    Lyrics
    Back not so long ago
Michael Boughton thought it should be so
    A super computer for Mowee
Would help the scientists to see
That Maui is a place to get work done
In spite of the lovely sea and sun
    Hawaii's senior senator agreed
And Defense Appropriations, they did the deed

At Phillips Labs in New Mexico
They have the mission to make this computer go
They write up the specs for the RFP
And start a wild and willy bidding spree
There are at least three consortium
That want to take on high performing computing mission
Imagine the U of H chagrin
When Albuqurque folks they get the win

In spite of Maui's great weather
    The Principal Investigator Gilfeather
Had his eyes upon the stars
and treated Maui as if it were on Mars
    Well UNM's special expertise
    Was unmaned missions long distantcy
But when it came time to bid again
The end result was not the same

And now its Lassner, Sugimura, and Bal
Who must rise up to the call
To show that the University of Hawaii
Has the right stuff for all to see
The must demonstrate that massively parallel
Is not such a hard thing to sell
And with the help of UH President Dobelle
They will send New Mexico back to.. .Santa Fe Oh....

So its time for the Space Command
To show that the situation is in hand
Keeping track of space junk is no fun
It keeps you out of the sea and sun
But visualization is a mighty tool
To differentiate wise man from fool
    The Great Challenges are back
And for motivation there's no lack
