Story Behind the Song
This song was born from the frustration which we, as a human species, experiences from day to day as a result of the empty, surface-level "games" that plague the world around us. And though we can look at these things and logically see that they are traps, we remain victims. The time has come for us to recognize the endless possibilities of our existence and transcend beyond trivialities, toward the truth.
Lyrics
I hide behind these gifts and through the sand I sift digging in my mind for something pure to find--something that is me, a thing to set me free from the periphery of this identity. It's really kind of sad you need to be the fad--to validate the soul, you need to play the role. If it were okay to be human we wouldn't need to be imprisoned by the constant quest for "love", the need to rise above: The hate, the hurt, the love, the pain; fattening desserts, the Silly Games that trap us, trip us, make us lie; that terrifies me.
Every day the same old thing, like salt-in-wound I feel the sting of wars between two-of-a-kind, the innate good is hard to find. We kill ourselves with nutrisweet; toxic waste beneath our feet & microwaves pass through our brains from kids on cell phones selling cocaine--Who are we to blame for the acid rain? the poison in the air? but no one really cares. In a world of lunacy that keeps us all in therapy, you've got to hide beneath the rug to get away...The Hate, the Hurt...
Doctor bills, attorneys' fees, prescription sets your mind at ease, plastic surgeons on the rise, suck the fat right from your thighs, we're so deluded by veneers--it's time we realize why we're here...
