The new album P.S.I. on Sanctuary Records drops May 7th. It's a further sonic exploration a la Pitchshifter: driving guitars, power, aggression, samples, and technology.

    Story Behind the Song
The sound of technology used to create maximum chaos. That's how Pitchshifter has been described.

Pitchshifter blasted onto the scene in 1992. Their combination of attitude and metallic aggression rocked the underground, and they were soon supporting everyone and anyone from Fugazi to Napalm Death.

Pitchshifter's live shows—fueled by powerful visuals and onstage programming—continued to build excitement and spread their reputation. Their shows bordered on dangerous, with huge, frequent stage invasions and exploding PA's. The power required to drive a Pitchshifter show would often short-circuit the venue. The band's solid buzz earned them supporting slots with Korn, Tool, Ministry, and Biohazard.

When not destroying stages, the band sought to tear down the walls between artists and fans. They call it "technological agitation," and this credo manifests itself on their website in free samples from their CDs. Pitchshifter encourages fans to "steal" their music to create their own musical realities.

Pitchshifter has spread their musical contagion across other media as well. You'll hear them on the soundtracks for The Crow - Salvation and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. If you've got a Sony Playstation, toss in Twisted Metal 3 or Test Drive 5. You'll hear them there, too.

    Lyrics
Was it something I said? But I don't even know you.
Was it something I did? If it was then just tell me.
If you show me no soul then you give me no reason.
Stand up straight when I walk, you can see me?
Kick all the dust that you want you know you're never gonna
Shut us down - we'll just get back up again.
If I gave you the tools could I temper my freedom?
If I suffered the fools would you let me succeed in
constructing my soul, should I give you the reason?
Stand up straight when I walk, you can see me?
Kick all the dust that you want you know you're never gonna
Shut us down - we'll just get back up again.
No matter what you say, we're gonna get back up again.
No matter what you do, we're gonna stand up straight again.
No matter what you say, we're gonna get back up again.
No matter what you do, we're gonna stand back up again.
And if you shut us down - we'll just get back up again
