(There will aways be a) Rainbow conveys the message that "truth is always plain to see" --its just not the truth we want. In particular, its always clear to see that "every cloud has a silver lining," but that's not the truth we want. We want the truth that will undo the cloud in the first place--unfortunately, that is not a truth we can have.

    Story Behind the Song
Rainbow was written in Am, but begins on the IV chord (Dm7). The chords cycle through all the colors of Am, including the related major key (F) chords where the bridge uses a straight I, IV and V ("anchoring" a return to Am).
The sixteen-bar cycle uses two eight-bar sections each of which includes an identical two-bar (I-V-I) "turnaround."

    Lyrics
    Round and round we go
    Where we land we know
There will always be a rainbow.

    Through the thick and thin
    After stormy winds
There will always be a rainbow.

    Even in the darkest hour
Truth is alwys plain to see
Just as spring will bring us showers
There will always be a rainbow.
