Prelude no. 4 (Rio 1940) ……………………Heitor Villa-Lobos
Heitor Villa-Lobos was a Brazilian composer who used the guitar in an effective way. In the prelude, what he called an "Homage to the Brazilian Indians." He uses a variety of effects, starting with a mournful melody and accompaniment, suggesting a soloist and orchestra. Then comes a fast section of open stings and chords patterns creates overlapping harmonies, which may depict the dense tropical forests of Brazil.
