Story Behind the Song
Wrote this song about my bass player and good friend who doesn't always know who his friends are.
Lyrics
I’ve never seen anyone so tormented, yeah deep down in your soul… no there’s nothing you can do about that no….
I’ve never seen anyone try so hard to hide the anguish, and you know, you’re not the only one with a past that won’t go away no…
You step on the backs of your best friends
In the spirit of competition, but it’s about what you feel you lack, and you can’t take it back.
And with the taste of metal in your mouth you cry no one understands me
Well maybe just one… just one
So you run to her for solace
And you say…
You’re the only one that cares
You’re the only one I trust
You’re the only one to say,
That you believe in us
You’re the only one to try,
To understand why
To help me with the doubt
And figure it all out
And when the rage calls upon you, no you can’t fight it, and it shows,
But who will be left to run off in the end, do you even know?
I know you feel so complicated, yeah straight through to the bones, but you have to sift through the ruins sometimes, and find what helps you grow.
And I know that you don’t trust it, but there’s at least one more, one more… who would never let you down… or fault you for who you are…
but I wish you would open up your eyes sometimes, and see the world that lay before you, but you won’t, cuz you never did and you never will.
Well it all came undone so long ago, but you won’t say why
And your surrounded by people who care about you, but you can’t see them no, Cuz they’re all so suffocating… and it would make no sense even if you stopped to think about it.
