    Story Behind the Song
The band could never really get the right vibe on this song until it was recorded in the spring of 2002 at Sound of Music in Richmond. The vocal work of Nancy Waldman and the hypnotic rhythms created by the musicians finally lent this work the mystical feel that is indicative of its lyrical content.

    Lyrics
Girl On a Hill With A Mirror by john moossa

    When I was a boy
I thought I could capture the
    Distant mountain Orange Glow
    And now I try
    To recall the rapture
Of a feeling I could never own
Like the luster of pure leisure or
The freedom of the open road
    Shivering shards of emerald brilliance
That seem to make your eyes explode

If you travel light then you’ll travel faster
I made the trek in less than a day
The floors were strewn with small bits of plaster
And other signs of slow decay
    I moved around with caution
Just to see what I might see
Until I had the crazy feeling that the
Orange Glow was talking to me

I TRIED TO LISTEN BUT ALL I COULD HEAR WAS THE SOUND OF SUNLIGHT PASSING THROUGH RAIN
OUT IN THE DISTANCE BUT IT COULDN’T BE CLEARER DELUSION NEVER LEADS YOU ASTRAY
THERE’S A GIRL ON A HILLTOP HOLDING A MIRROR SHE BLINDS ME AS SHE HOLDS ME TO BLAME
FOR THE CHANCE THAT CIRCUMSTANCE PUT A FACE IN THE SPOTLIGHT THAT HAPPENED TO BE WEARING YOUR
    HAPPENED TO BE WEARING YOUR
    NAME

Sometimes I seek the circles of silence and sometimes the torrid flow
Sometimes I seek the loneliest places where other people fear to go
I move around with caution just to see what I can see
Until I get that same old feeling like the Orange Glow is talking to me
