Story Behind the Song
Einstein was actually dyslexic, you see, so it was acyually C=M(squared)E. You don't pronounce the "equals" though, It's a silent equals.
"Galaxies" was recorded in Chris' apartment using a VS880ex. The guitar was a telecaster, run through a Roland JP8080 synth, which also provided some of the throbs and pads (layered with the old Juno 106)... Paul came in a put the vocal down, very late at night in Chris' dining room.
The track was transferred to Digital Performer and sweetened, then appended to Floyd. We worked on the transition for a while, then came up with the reprise of Floyd. The rest, as they say, is history.
Or pre-history actually, because the performance came before the resulting social event. Which is to say that it predates itself, really.
Lyrics
You sit right there
in your ice-cream chair
and act like there's
nothing to do about it
