Recorded at the Institute of Audio Research on 24 track analogue tape. Many thanks to Ritchie Blakin. Ritchie is a great engineer and producer who has recorded everyone from Miles to Sinatra. Ritchie taught everyone so much about recording. Many thanks. Check out this tune, you will be surprised by how good it sounds! |

Story Behind the Song
This song was originally written in 1982. It was co-written with Ed Buckhaut and Eddie did the lyrics. The song was released around 1986 by TSMB records. It hit #13 on the college radio stations or at least that is what I remember from so long ago. The group that recorded the song was The Hubcaps. At that time it was released as a 45 rpm, one of the old vinyl styles. Terri Tombesi was the president of the record company TSMB and he was a good friend to me. This version is close to the way I heard the song in my head 20 years ago, not perfect, but the best the song has been done out of 4 different recording studios with 4 different artist and 4 different productions. jg
Lyrics
You can run, but you can't hide from the fires deep inside. When the heat starts burning in, you can run but it's impossible to win.
In the heat of the night, when the full moon is rising...you can hear the wind sighing in the trees. There is no where to turn and we're going to get burned...let us run in the heat of the night.
When the moon is shining bright, you can feel the heat of night, you can run but it's impossible to win. You can try to free your mind from the problems of the time. You can run, but you can't beat the heat of night.
My spirit was born free, but it just won't let me be...let me run in the heat of the night.
