I love Audrey Hepburn, and Keats, who died in Rome. This has a driving wild electric flamenco feel, and is strangely danceable

    Story Behind the Song
Roman Holiday was written when Audrey Hepburn died, and some of it is about her, some is about Keats, who died in Rome just near the Spanish Steps.
More generally it is about some people going and some being left behind.

    Lyrics
April she leant in the doorway
    hair aflame against the sky
BrightStar asking you not to go
tripping off the stage of life
    down the Spanish Steps
    into a Roman winter
where wings of fear and of desire
compete in the flying art of life
and the fleeting life of art

And at last I will sail home
with the changeing of the tide
    but you will stay here
    you and Shelley
    like skyrockets
who drag our hearts after you
I thought you were someone else
I thought it was our time

the moon sinks down into the river
the children clap, and ask for more
and you don't want to disappoint them
but your heart is empty of its store
    grounded angel in Givenchy
who wore the mask that bares the soul
I held your hand and helped you balance
while you made the world fall in love with you
