Story Behind the Song
This song was wriiten initially written in the late fall of 2001. It went through several versions before arriving at it's logical conclusion.
Lyrics
I looked into the sky,
and felt an emptiness I'd never dreamt.
A gaping hole inside,
a place I'd always thought impervious.
There's not enough time
There's not enough time to rewind.
Our lives have changed forever
But moving forward, let's remember,
how far we had come before,
you and I were under siege.
I wonder where our hearts would be,
if we gave into cruelty.
Who could have guessed the scope,
that one broad stroke, alone,
could penetrate?
In a moment's time,
I saw the lines that we had drawn
evaporate.
There's not enough time
There's not enough time to rewind.
Our lives have changed forever
But moving forward, let's remember,
how far we had come before,
you and I were under siege.
I wonder where our hearts would be,
if we gave into cruelty.
(Nothing changed with time)
(When we compared)
(We've got to read between the lines)
And did you ever ask me why
I never took your side?
Try swallowing your pride
and take a look inside.
Our lives have changed forever
But moving forward, let's remember,
how far we had come before,
you and I were under siege.
I wonder where our hearts would be,
if we gave into cruelty.
I'm not looking for an answer.
I'm not looking for relief.
I'm holding on to what I believe.
I will find a way to what's inside
I will open up to hear your cries.
Just give me a sign this time.
The game's not over.
Not this time.
The game's not over.
