This is kind of heavy for me. Actually very dark and disturbing as it deals with pedophilia. |

Story Behind the Song
Pedophelia is not a new plague but every where you turn the nasty subject seems to rear it's ugly head. Growing up I had a friend, actually somewhat of a brilliant fellow who seemed to be destined for great things.
We went through childhood, sang in the same boy choir and went to the same school. In high school we parted ways. I believe he was planning to go to Juliard after graduating HS. Believe me he was talented enough.
Years later after moving out of the old hometown I learned of a scandal in the parish concerning him and molestation alegations. He was then the organist in the church.
I approached the song originally as a basic guitar band format. Then later started sdding keyboards as an after effect. I was looking for a more orchestral overture to kick it off. What resulted was an almost 2 minute new age overture. I like surprises in music so even though the musical feels are total opposing, I think the F9 to G change helps set up the song.
Use a new bass Jackson guitar in this as well as a new Marshal amp so please pardon the inexperience I display concerning getting used to some of the new gear.
Enjoy...the song I mean...not pedophilia.
Lyrics
How long have you lived with this perdition?
How many tears will never touch your eyes?
Balancing the loss with vain contrition
While you bury every sin beneath your lies
Do you smell the scent of fear behind their laughter?
Do you still hear voices after the crowd has gone?
We all heard rumors just below the surface
About the wounded boy who never has any fun
You can run - you can hide but you cannot kill the beast inside
He will batter down the doors of your sanctuary
I'm throwing you a lifeline
Edmund for the last time
There are things in this world, better left alone
Like the secrets you keep, better left unknown...
Do you keep your treasure hidden in a shoebox?
Every relic numbered, priced each souvineer.
And no one understands the talents your showing
And do your temples throb when mother gets too near!
You can run - you can hide but you can't defeat the beast inside
He will batter down your doors of your sanctuary
You can scream - you can rage - you can prophesize from every page
Spitting every curse you know from your dictionary
I'm throwing you a lifeline
Edmund for the last time
There are things in this world, better left alone
Like the secrets you keep, better left unknown...
I am not your friend
I am not your puppet-boy
I am not your teacher or your student
Or your salvation toy!
Take me down these dark streets - serpentine the canyon
take me down these dark streets - numb me when the pain comes
I am not your brother
I am not the hammer or the nail
I am not your judge and jury
I am not your jail
Take me down these dark streets - steal me from this dungeon
take me down these dark streets - numb me when the pain comes
How long have you been living with this perdition?
How many tears will never touch your eyes?
Throwing you a lifeline - maybe for the last time
You can run - you can hide but you can't defeat the beast inside
He will batter down the doors of your sanctuary
You can win - you might lose - when they offer mercy don't refuse
Another piece of evidence from your diary
I'm throwing you a lifeline
Edmund for the last time
There are things in life, better left alone
Like the sins that we hide, better left unknown...
You can run - you can hide
But don't pretend there's hope inside
Batter down your doors
Throwing you a Lifeline
Edmund it's the last time...
