This song reminds that heaven is not some abstract notion, it can exist right now, in this time and space, if we love one another.
CD: Not released   Label: Black Tree Recordings
Credits: Aaron T. featuring Greg Thomas of George Clinton and P-Funk

    Story Behind the Song
I used to come across this old street musician when I was a kid, and he always seemed to be content, and right in the moment. Today with all of the negativity in the air, the temptation is to look to the sky for answers. I believe heaven is here, in this space and time, if we love one another.

    Lyrics
I know a man I used to see him every day
On the corner of Fifth and Man
We used to laugh at him
Cause’ it seemed he’d smile at no one in particular
But his expression said I am happy to be here
After a while I finally got up my nerve
And I went over and placed a quarter in his cup
He placed his guitar on his shoulder and say son,
I am just glad to be here
This life ain’t all that matters
There’s more to life than work and war
And if you dare to dig one step further
You will be glad you are here
He say politicians are always dancin’ for money
And they’re not worth my time
    And that preacher over there
He’s so heavenly minded he aint’ no earthly good
Why they aint’ glad to be here?
This life ain’t all that matters
There’s more to life than work and war
And if you dare to dig one step further
You will be glad you are here
