Story Behind the Song
A while back a friend of mine decided he wanted to pursue a career in music.
With amazing diligence he managed to put together a band, some original
tunes, an image, and merchandise to advertise it all. However, In his quest
for fame and fortune he forgot to nurture one thing...skill. Recognizing the
need for improvement he sought out professional instruction. After only a
few lessons he realized...and I quote, "I don't so much wanna be a musician,
I really just wanna be a Rock Star." WelI, I guess that's enough cuz he gigs
way more than most "real" musicians I know.
Lyrics
Welcome to my world of plenty
Party favors at the door
Hope you thought to bring your pennies
Silver's nice but won't grant more
Dreams come true for all who enter
Make a wish thy will be done
In our fountains filled with copper
Lie breeding hopes of everyone
So you wanna be a Rock Star!?!
And you feel you would go far
You wanna drive fancy cars
And frequent bars
That screen their clientele
So what about the small folk!?!
The ones that branded you a joke
They hide behind the smoke
Of clever antecdotes
On how they knew you when
Watch the spiral dance of rainbows
Feel the floor move up and down
Stand real still but it will not slow
And predators move to surround
Before you've realized what's happened
The pounce has turned into a race
Don't look back indulge in the trend
You're the one who's being chased
