	Story Behind the Song I was practicing with my guitarist, Brian Dekam, one night when his six year old son Isaiah kept interrupting us to show us how high he could jump in his new sneakers. I thought, "Hey, I remember that! That's what a new pair of shoes will do for ya...make you run faster...jump higher." So, I wrote a song about it. Lyrics Well, you can almost hear the zoom as I go screaming through the room faster than that spaceman on TV. And then I’ll hit the brakes and do a double-take. Say: “Mom and dad, are you looking at me?” I’ve got a new pair of shoes. I’ve got a new pair of shoes. There ain’t no limit to the things I can do in my new pair of shoes. Well I can corner on a dime, run circles ‘round those friends of mine, Look at my two feet man, ain’t it cool? And you should see me jump around, leap a dollhouse in a single bound… okay, maybe two… They don’t light up, glow in the dark, or make a funny sound… All I know is they make me faster when I’m running around… Tie ‘em loose, tie ‘em tight, don’t tie ‘em at all… When I wear my brand new shoes, I’m feeling four feet tall..yeah!!! I’ve got a new pair of shoes…
