Story Behind the Song
The story behind the song...
Working a full-time job, going to school part time, playing in two different bands, involved with a girlfriend... Basically juggling many things. I started to get this notion in my head about "buying time." I noticed all these little "dollar stores" popping up everywhere. I thought it would be a neat idea to go pick up some "time for a dollar."
This song didn't get recorded until two years after it was written. I left the two bands, ditched the girl, took a hiatus from school, and put together the band you're listening to now.
Lyrics
TIME FOR A DOLLAR
I’ve got a dollar in my pocket
I wish I could buy the hour hand
And it don’t rest on my constitution
When the hourglass run out of sand
Give me time for a dollar, I got things to do
Buy me a second, a minute or two
Give me time for a dollar, I got things to do
Buy me a second, a minute or two
I’ve got a dollar for my pocket
Wish I could buy some time with it
Then I say, then you say, that these old games that we play
They don’t make our time worth any shit
Give me time for a dollar, I got things to do
Buy me a second, a minute or two
Give me time for a dollar, I got things to do
Buy me a second, a minute or two
I wish I could stay here
and set the time
all this it leads to you
Hey brother could you spare some time, yeah
Time for a dollar, time for a dollar
I’ve got a dollar in my pocket
I wish I could buy the hour hand
And it don’t rest on my constitution, no, no, no
When the hourglass run out of sand
Give me time for a dollar, I got things to do
Buy me a second, a minute or two
Give me time for a dollar, I got things to do
Buy me a second, a minute or two
I wish I could stay here
and set the time
all this it leads to you
Hey brother could you spare some time, yeah
Time for a dollar, time for a dollar
