Story Behind the Song
there's too much flash and far too little substance in today's radio. i like radio, and i wish it was better. where's the subversiveness in modern day pop? this was an attempt to inspire somebody to put some in.
Lyrics
black and white there grows my city,
something concrete, something pretty.
on the corner, Jack pulls her up, and kisses her.
he's gonna take her down, down in the underground.
subterranean tradition of black and white,
dim and gray, those times are alright with me.
wait and see.
the city ain't gonna be so colorful anymore,
we're gonna paint it black, take it back - it's us it's for.
Jacky lives in the basement room, he's in the dark.
he'd spent it underground alone than in the park.
he's gonna light a candle for you and for me,
black and white it's always gonna be.
black and white.
