Story Behind the Song
set in a time of war, when the ladies sat waiting for a letter from their men hopeing it didn't say he was killed, The war isn't going well for his side, her brothers and father have already been killed, and she gets this letter from her love.... This song was originally sang only by Mykel, then we added the extra lines from her perspective and its now sang by both the male and female voice, him saying the words to her in the sence that he may not make it through the next battle and her saying the words to him saying that she may not make it through another letter.
Lyrics
and he said to me
When you dry your tears tonight
Maybe you could save one for me
If I don’t make it there by morning
Let it go
To well up and roll down your cheek
Then to fall upon the page
To mark the ending of our story
Let me go
Let me float upon the wind
In perfect freedom
Let me fade into the early morning sky
When you follow me one day
I’ll be waiting
Let me go, let me go
Let me go, let me go
Let me go
When you dream your dreams tonight
Maybe you can dream a dream of me
You could hold me there forever and
a day will come when we will know
There has been nothin’ ever in our way
We’ve been dancing in the shadows anyway
Let me float upon the wind
In perfect freedom
Let me fade into the early morning sky
When you follow me one day
I’ll be waiting
Let me go, let me go
Let me go, let me go
Let me go
oh no
I can’t let you go
When you say your prayers tonight
Maybe you can say a little prayer for me
