Story Behind the Song
Ray Dee & myself (Tom Milestone) wrote a song about the passing of time and it's effect on life. It was written in Ray's basement in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. We wrote it in a few hours and when we recorded it in Hollywood, Gary Paxton who had produced many hits singles in those days flipped over the song and told us it was a hit!!!
Lyrics
The days past much too fast much too fast
I live my happiest hours
But as the days of youth and love go past
These are my saddest hours
Never see the hands of time
So long and never last
The hands of time get older now
See them, moving, fast
I'll be strong & I'll live on....
(Break)
I work & love this simple day
I know it will not last
The strength you've got I know I lack
Paint my darkness, yeah, ahh black
Paint it black
The pace I live is running out
This much I can forsee
This day I live you'll never know
Has more, than meaning, ahh for me
I'll be strong, I'll live on
Don't you worry about me
I'll be strong
