"2 jigs and "The Black Joke" (jig)" | genre: European | |

"Out on the Ocean" and "Donnybrook Fair" are two Irish session favourites.
"The Black Joke" is an English tune first noted in the early 18th century. There was a set different coloured "Jokes" such as "The Yellow Joke". Various versions of this tune are used in several Morris traditions (for example Bledington, Adderbury, Bucknell and Badby). It's often also known by a slightly different name such as "Old Black Joe" in the Bucknell and Badby traditions.
(note mp3.com seems to think that track titles do not need to be more than 40 characters long, too short for more tune set names!) |
