Tropical DARKNESS. No other way to describe it. Raw emotional vocals over percussion & guitar... sound effects, etc. Erik Hendin did a BEAUTIFUL job on guitar. (Check him out on mp3.com or his own website... www.erikhendin.com)
CD: Shades of Vampness   Label: Jafzi Records (to be released in 2003)

    Story Behind the Song
It's as naked as I'll ever be in front of the world! Pure vulnerability. Just one of those things... came from a songwriting workshop assignment and exploded. I programmed all the percussion in my little home writing studio... which are still the sounds you're hearing. Then my friend Erik Hendin (check him out on mp3.. amazing) wrote the amazing guitar. Brought the parts to Larry's studio.. he spruced 'em up. I recorded the most vulnerable, raw vocals I've ever done. We added some cool weird vocal nuances. Erik came in and re-did the guitar beautifully. It was mixed and mixed again... mastered a bit. And here you are... :)=

    Lyrics
    CAVE
    © 2002 Michele L. Jaffe

I found myself in a world where people know it all
    And have it all
I looked around with envy at their ease

I could pretend I was the same
But still I knew I'd feel this pain
Yet somehow I just couldn't bring myself to leave

    And ohhh yeah
Insecurity was killing me those days
    Ohhh yeah
I'm falling further deeper in this haze
    Let me go...

I know you'll tell me that I went and trapped myself
    Inside myself
And maybe deep inside I do believe

But this little cave I did create
Has me survive my mental state
I'm just too scared to let myself go free

    And ohhh yeah
Security is killing me these days
    Ohhh yeah
I'm falling further deeper in this haze
    Go away!

    Ohhh yeah
Apathy is killing me these days
    Ohhh yeah
I'm still falling further deeper in this haze
    Bye bye
