Story Behind the Song
When things were really bad, and I got on Prozac, I felt like I had given up and lost my individuality to the drug. I had a fantasy that I was Milo in Norton Juster's fabulous book, The Phantom Tollbooth. Very sad. I'm much better now!
Lyrics
My name is Milo. But I'm an ordinary boy. Life is a long road. On and on and on. Pay the toll and drive on through. Time is a feather drifting down to you. My name is Milo, and I've got lots of real good friends. Insects for brothers, the clock undwinds to the end. Kings and demons, mountains of madness, damsels in distress, their names are Rhyme and Reason. My name was Milo, but I forget just who I am. I used to know a dog named Tock, and a boy who was my friend. I'm in the Doldrums now, caught in the haze. A haze of ordinary life, now my tokens are gone. My name is Milo. But I'm an ordinary boy. Life is a long road. It goes on and on. Pay the toll and drive on through. Time is a best friend who walks out on you. Milo!
