Story Behind the Song
Nick Baker recently toured the East Coast with the "In Harmony" music group from the Washington State School for the Blind. He and his fellow classmates toured Ground Zero and gave a special concert at the Metro Center for the New York fire fighters including Chief Nygra. This song is inspired as a tribute to celebrate the upcoming one-year anniversary of 9/11.

Heres To Our Heroes

On September 11th, when the attacks of terror came
Our countrys freedom was at stake and things were not the same
Emergency workers, firefighters, and police were on the scene
Digging through the ashes and cleaning the debris
And when they died and lost their lives, on that very day.
We all were broken hearted, its very sad to say
And so with praise and gratitude, this song of positivity is just for you
Chorus
So heres to our heroes, the ones who save us from danger
Heres to our heroes, the ones who died and got injured
We honor you with pride; youre always on our side
Whenever we need help. Heres to our heroes
At Metro Tech that day when we sang for all the firemen
To honor those who died that very day on 9-11
To all the souls that died in action, on that very day
The names of them will all be carved up for those who passed away
And for those who are remaining, youve made us very proud
We thank you all sincerely, as your sirens scream out loud
And as I sing this song to you, these words are coming straight from my heart to yours
Chorus
So heres to our Heroes, the ones who save us from danger
Heres to our heroes, the ones who died and got injured
Their work is never done. Each day is 9-1-1
Whenever we need help, heres to our heroes
Bridge:
So when you fall asleep tonight, be sure to say your prayers
And pray for all those citizens, the ones who passed away
Chorus:
So heres to our Heroes, the ones who save us from danger
Heres to our heroes, the ones who died and got injured
Theyll keep us safe from harm
No matter where we are, every night and day
Heres to our Heroes, the ones who save us from danger
Heres to our Heroes, the ones who died and got injured
We honor you with pride. Youre always on our side
Their work is never done. Each day is 9-11
Whenever we need help, heres to our heroes
