Story Behind the Song
This is the new final version based (in part) on its original recording done in 1993. I took the original version, made two copies of it and generally distorted and destroyed the quality in any way I could, including rotating the complete mixes through filters, resonances, slow and fast vibratos, extreme distortions, flangers, phasers and I can't remenber what else. There are 2 complete mixes playing at the same time, each processed differently and panned apart from each other. On top ot those mixes, I've recorded new sounds and 3 new athmospheric guitars. My intention was to create this version in a completely reverse way from the polished mixing techniques which I've used on most of the other songs on the new CD (2001). Below is the English translation of the lyrics. For Russian lyrics, please see the Photos page (using Photos tab on top of this webpage)
Lyrics
UNDERSTANDING THE ETERNAL
Poetic translation by Richard D. Nidel, Jr.
Eternity teaches her own lessons.
What's it to us - to think of the eternal?
A shout makes us think about the instant,
and in the instant it all becomes eternal.
Bedtime fairy-tales
remain inside the language
And kisses yet unseen
will open into flowers.
It will be easier to trade all your dreams
for money - cold and empty;
A struggle to stay here on the river
and swim out to the Sea.
Life's load will be lighter
without the things of Earth.
Rid of mortal selves
we'll gain our freedom.
Men will end their talking,
talking words,
We'll forget about the fire
and see the water.
And rivers seen at night
remain inside your dreams,
but kisses yet unseen
will open into flowers.
Understanding the eternal
will be so clear and simple,
and our tears will dry
as silver strings.
