Story Behind the Song
Steel Scream wasn't supposed to be a song, it was actually supposed to be the name of my Heavy Metal band in High School when I lived in New Jersey. The name was taken from the wanted ads in a popular Rock magazine. (The word "steel" was over the word "scream" in a particular paragraph) After I moved to Florida in 1987, I started "The Steel Scream Project". In 1991 I had the idea of writing the title song about a train, kinda like "Fantasy Island", on this train you can live your dreams! My friend Alan from New Jersey came down to Florida to visit and we recorded the song in 1992. Alan plays the acoustic guitar and adds backup vocals as well.
NOTE: This song was originally written and intended to be a hard HEAVY METAL song (that's why it's the "train of metal"), but this acoustic version worked out just fine!
Lyrics
(1st Verse)
The train is leaving the depot tonight,
climb aboard because tonight's the night.
The whistle's blowin', we're leaving soon,
under the light of the midnight moon.
Tell all your friends, the ride never ends,
it goes on forever.
So come inside, we're gonna ride forever and ever.
*(Chorus)
Welcome on the train of metal
where you can live your dreams,
on this train of speed we call Steel Scream.
Welcome on the train of metal
where you will live your dreams,
on this bullet we have named Steel Scream.
(2nd Verse)
There's no where else in the world you can go,
where you can be free and be on your own,
to live your dreams and make them come true,
welcome my friends, it's all here for you.
So grab your seat, get off your feet,
we're gonna ride forever.
Sit back relax, enjoy the tracks forever and ever. *
(Bridge)
We're gonna rock, we're gonna roll,
we won't stop we're out of control.
This is our time, this is our way,
this is our night, we're here to stay.
(3rd Verse)
The engine roars it's full speed ahead,
sounds of metal scaping in your head.
Goin' faster than the speed of light,
on rails of steel screamin' in the night.
Here we will see eternity, we will live forever.
Here we can do what we want to forever and ever. *
