"Conformity" is the title track of my new CD that I'm trying to complete and release by late winter. I played the acoustic guitar tracks at the Shining Star Studio (home of my good friends The Mac Brothers) in Chicago when I took a trip out there for my father-in-law's wedding. (Please see the engineering credits for more information.) The rest of the song I recorded as usual, in my basement. About the song - Have you ever felt like you never quite fit in no matter where you go? Always feeling like an outsider trying to instantly assimilate to your surroundings to gain the acceptance from people around you but fail miserably? You're always the minority... feeling as if every eye that falls upon you judges you unfairly before you even open your mouth to speak. That's what this song is about.

    Story Behind the Song
Me and my family went out to Chicago back in June for my father-in-law's wedding (congrats to Daddyo and Kay!). While we were out there, on the last weekend we went to meet Frank and Bob, "The Mac Brothers" and their families. A little history between me and The Mac Brothers; I met Frank and Bob "virtually" over at HomeRecording.com (a place for musician's to discuss pretty much anything dealing with home and studio recording techniques, etc.) almost two years ago. Anyway, to make a long story short, these dudes are just darn nice people... My friend Chris "Big Daddy" Hunter (Operations Mgr. of BeOnAir.com) plays my stuff because the Mac Bros. hooked me up during an on-air interview they had over at BeOnAir. Additionally Me and The Mac Brothers recently did a cool collaboration song called "Doin' Nothin'" that you can find here on my artist page or theirs at http://mp3.com/themacbrothers. Okay, so, we met Frank and Bob, their nice families, the new baby :) The only part that I regret is, there was not more time for us to hang out. They were gracious enough to let me record the acoustic guitar tracks for this song "Conformity" for my not-yet-released CD also called "Conformity" in their studio. Well, it took a bit longer than I thought it would... I kept messing up and Frank and Bob would have to punch me in and out, etc. (That is recording jargon - they didn't actually strike me with fists - haha). My kids and my wife and everyone were very patient during all that time and I'm grateful for them not rushing the studio-booth and pulling me out of there to beat my apple. After finally getting the acoustic tracks done, we all grabbed some dinner (except for Frank's wife who stayed home with the new-born) at a nice restaurant... afterwards me and my family headed back to our hotel... we were exhausted (mostly from the "whole" trip itself to Chicago, and cancelled and delayed flights, walking around the beautiful city of Chicago, etc.) and my youngest son TJ threw up before we got into the restaurant because me and my older son spun him around too much... As you know from previous news posts, Chris Hunter (Ops Mgr. for BeOnAir.com) was going to come out to Chicago during our visit, but unfortunately was unable to make it because of last-minute business, but we'll all hopefully be meeting together at a later date. We were all pretty bummed that he couldn't make it. Okay, basically, we had a great time and I can't wait to do it again! I don't know if I missed anything because I'm just typing/rambling...

    Lyrics
Do your best to fit in, conformity - I'm just like you. Do your best to blend in, don't give it away - don't say a thing. I know that I make life a mess, everyday that I'm breathing. I know that I make my life crazy, everyday my heart's beating. Go ahead and hide away in the shadows of your darkest dreams. Go ahead and pull tight on the chains that hold in those memories. I know that I make life a mess, everyday that I'm breathing. I know that I make my life crazy, everyday my heart's beating. I've been practicing my walk all day (conformity). I've been practicing my talk all day (conformity). Paint my face the same color as yours (conformity). Change my mind so mine's the same as yours (conformity). I know that I make life a mess, everyday that I'm breathing. I know that I make my life crazy, everyday my heart's beating. I know that I make life a mess, everyday that I'm breathing. I know that I make my life crazy, everyday my heart's beating. Do your best to fit in, conformity - I'm just like you... just like you.
