    Story Behind the Song
wrote this after watching Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf. Totally inspired by its existentialism and drunken nihilism and how it reminded me of my childhood, but I don't know why. Realized why Liz Taylor is worshipped by many, myself now included.

    Lyrics
It's the simple things elude me
like the passing of the day
and just how it is that they connect
continuum has always been the problem

    I've aquired a nasty habit
    of appreciating
all the people I have met and left
    met and left
    only as they're framed inside
    the rear-view mirror
as the words lie suffocating in my mouth
    and I'm leaving more
    leaving more behind again

How long was I asleep for?
Time has always been the problem
    burning down,
there is no time for it
    Oh to be wide awake
    and pressed against the glass

Like the statues in the garden
    reciting and rewriting
all the nursery rhymes about ourselves
    never sung
    the liquor store is closing
who's gonna be the last one standing?

How long was I asleep for?
Time has always been the problem
    burning down,
there is no time for it
    Oh to be wide awake
    and pressed against the glass

Now the baby blankets smell like cigarettes
    and all the windows,
they are bluing over with morning
I dreamt that I was trapped inside
    a maze of gold
I was gonna miss the flight
    back to my little life
    little life
oh to be inside of it
    pressed against the glass
