I'm kind of working through some of my own demons with this song. I was in an incident during my vacation at Myrtle Beach last year in which I almost drowned because the undertow got a hold of me and kept dragging me away from shore, constantly slamming me down on my knees into the sandy floor. (My older son played a big part in my rescue - that's my boy.) I've always had a deep seeded fear of drowning, but not strong enough to keep me out of the ocean to have some fun in the waves - until that day. Every so often if I close my eyes, I can still feel the exhaustion, the helplessness, the gasping for air, the freakin' water throwing my stupid self up and down so that every time I tried to get to the surface to take a breath, it just moved up with me and then sucked me down - freakin' water. I'm not sure if making this song helped me with my fear, but oh well. It's a song from my mind and emotional realm, and I dig that. This song is nice and heavy - lots of guitars making jagged edged Metal laced with a little Funk to smooth it out. | MP3.com CD: Valley of the DogZ - buy it!

Lyrics
Why do waves take me far from site? I gasp for air and I cling to life. Why do waves crash hard above my head? One second more and this poor man, yes he'll be dead. Tonight in Carolina one man's no more. News said the water took him far from shore. Undertow swept him out like last night's rain. Beat his body upon the rocks - what a shame... a cryin' shame. I saw the sand through the liquid green. And I saw my blood stream out in front of my like ribbon. No one to help and no one to hear. To drown in the darkest waters is my favorite fear. Tonight in Carolina one man's no more. News said the water took him far from shore. Undertow swept him out like last night's rain. Beat his body upon the rocks. What a shame, what a shame, what a shame. What a shame, what a shame, what a shame. What a shame, what a shame, what a shame. What a shame, what a shame, what a shame. I watched my lifetime pass me by (on a wave). Exhausted, no more strength to try. One gasp of air - one gulp of water. Please, lightning strike this bloody water. Tonight in Carolina one man's no more. News said the water took him far from shore. Undertow swept him out like last night's rain. Beat his body upon the rocks - what a shame.
