Story Behind the Song
I was thinking about the earth one day, she started talking to me, so I wrote it down.
It all came out, as is in about 3 hours, took 5 days to memorize. It was meant to be
Lyrics
I can’t take it no more, this way you treat me, so I open a door,
How you like ultra-violet, I can’t breathe any more….Dioxide,
You won’t be happy till I die, can’t blame all of you though,
Your governments lie, don’t want you to find out what they’re pumping in my sky, rubbing salts into my eye, I wish I could shed my layers sometimes,
And sigh. Why? Did I not provide you with enough to survive?
You went about it in the wrong way, I overlooked the illusion of the
Importance of money in your society. You put poison in a spray,
Then just throw the can away, garbage truck picks it up every Wednesday,
And for this service you pay, but who really pays?
I’ve suffered so many bruises and abrasions, Nations bombing Nations
Your cancers are gathered and inseminated, while I’m violated, penetrated.
Don’t expect me to take it, I’m too sick now to fake it
Help me I’m weak, so tired that I’m tired of the patter of children’s feet,
I used to be excited to hear you speak, but you changed,
We’ve become estranged, we used to be friends,
But now it’s like you don’t even know me-blind you’ve made me,
And you just can’t see. I can’t keep spinning, I wish gravity would just set me free, let go of me, I don’t want to be another casualty of humanity.
Are you mad at me? For what, ‘coz I provided you with Atmosphere, Gravity, look at yourselves, ignorant to your own vanity, take another breath on me, cut down another tree, I used to count when you used it for necessity, now it’s a luxury, on it is printed trillions in currency, concealing a gift under the Christmas tree, billions of tons flushed into me, where you just dig your own arteries, but you’re not as smart as me, just lucky to be alive on me, I’m the finest specimen you’ll ever see, yeah, you look around but you don’t see me, right under your feet, yeah I’m talking to you, in actions rather than words, my weather patterns are changing, the heat dial’s being turned, soon you can stand outside to get your perms, and ten minute-paid for-bedded sun burns.
Yeah I’m gonna make some turns, all the hints you were given, a cockroach could’ve learned, even the worms. I gave you life, don’t think I can’t take it back, Its my turn to give you a bitch slap, deep impact, you won’t be saved by air bags, best watch your backs, ’coz I’m bending back, and about to snap, so respect my rap, or face my wrath. I never wanted to battle or be a psychopath, sociopath, but I’ll show you wrath that hell not hath. So face this woman’s scorn, and if you didn’t like the cold, you better love the warm, ’coz I’ve given you my warning, followed up with global warming, killer beez and locust swarming, but you’re too good at ignoring. You think you’re just gonna lift off and go to Mars, you’re wishing on stars while you’re driving in your cars, my resources are scarred, charred and starved, lungs stained and tarred, tears acidic and hard, radiation’s producing retards, slurry, CO2, you’re in a hurry, wasting food. Fumes from plastics, unnatural gasses appealing to your overpopulating masses, bending my chassis.
Your personality clashes with mine, but I think I’m gonna recline, one thing that I have that you don’t is time.
So you better take it easy on me, I’m weak, sick, tired, can’t you see? Why didn’t you just co-operate with me, am I not here under your feet? Give you food to eat? Give you dark to sleep? Fuel to burn? Continue to turn? What do I get in return? In time you’ll learn, you’ll miss me, my personality, the tree that you sit under and drink your ice-t while it’s hot outside and you’re thirsty, look at my seas, cocktails of toxic slurry, you say no worries, at least until the level of toxicity on me is high enough to be able to poison you when you breathe, while you drink. We’re on the brink - Geologically, but you think your meager existence is eternity, no regard for your children, grand children, guess you’re all just children.
I have seen nothing, I have seen Amoeba,
I have seen cells, I have seen a Cheetah,
Seen a flower, seen a monkey,
Seen a beaver, seen a Junkie
Seen Dinosaurs, Asteroids and floods,
Seen good seen evil, seen friendships, then blood,
Felt pyramids rise, Felt towers fall
Felt the atomic bomb, felt removal of the wall.
Never do I recall having felt such a virus on my skin,
Fine, have it your way, then none of us win.
What else can I say? I’ve done everything I can,
It’s up to you, our fates are in your hands, but you’ve sold your souls into the Devil’s master plan, there is no Peter Pan and Superman, don’t understand how you can think so grand, shout commands, shake hands, talk to friends, look at stars, be moved by music, and yet never use it, before you loose it, remember that you choose it, you had your chance, and abused it,
Like fuses you blew it. Thinking that humanity will prevail, where do you get these notions, all you’ve done is fail, chasing your tail, not opening your eyes, just reaching out at brail.
When the choice is yours, recognize your flaws, polish the floors to a shine in your mind, It’s not too late, to get refined,
But it is too late to press rewind
