Story Behind the Song
This song was a lyrical turning point for me. I used to write 'political' songs...like the problems are all 'out there'. Then i realised that i was full of shit. the problems always start at home. Hence the confession.
Lyrics
Confession
Words and music by Carole Nelson
I've been a bad girl, I've been a sad girl,
I've been a bad lover and I've been a fool.
I've been an outcast, I've been an outlaw,
I've been a jealous woman and I've been cruel.
I've been hopeless, I've been careless,
I've been without faith, I lost my natural grace.
I've been reduced and I've been seduced
I've been led astray by a pretty face.
I've been the judge and I've been the victim
I've been the accuser and I've been accused.
I've been defensive, I've been expensive,
I've been denied and I've been refused.
I've been demanding, I've been deceiving,
I've been believing in all kinds of lies.
I've been angry, I've been hungry,
I've been too proud and I've been cut down to size.
My confession, my confession
This is my confession, my confession.
I've been foolish, I've been homeless,
I've been without money and I've been on the street.
I've been fearless, I've been peerless
I've been someone people happy to meet.
I've been a climber, a two-timer,
I've been a failure and I've been a success.
I've been adored and I've been deplored
I've been a triumph and I've been a mess.
I've been the judge and I've been the victim
I've been the accuser and I've been accused.
I've been defensive, I've been expensive,
I've been denied and I've been refused.
I've been demanding, I've been deceiving,
I've been believing in all kinds of lies.
I've been angry, I've been hungry,
I've been too proud and I've been cut down to size.
This is my confession, my confession
This is my confession, my confession.
