Story Behind the Song
Mike does not usually explain his songs. This song was written in Mike's bedroom on his acoustic guitar. After many, many months without a good title, Mike settled on the current one.
Lyrics
My eyes grow wide as she climbs outside
She's everything I'll ever need
She takes a stride and holds on tight
It's hard for me to breathe
I try to hold on, she wants to go
She's not afraid of me
I'm so glad when she lets go
Then she walks away from me, away
Oh no, she's there, they're in my face
I can't escape but that's OK
Cause they won't be alone tonight
I shut my mouth but it hurts me so
I cannot leave her side
She's open wide and vulnerable
How would I survive
I cannot leave her without one last kiss
But, she sadly declines
I pull her close, just in time
The best feeling in life
Why did you leave here alone, so alone
Stay here with me don't go home
