Story Behind the Song
A song originally written as a joke. We were tired of hearing the same crap on KROQ like "Last Resort" and "Adam's Song" so we made our own take on it. Since we are all internet losers, we thought it only appropriate to incorporate it with suicide.
Well, no more than about a month after the song was started, Chad's father stumbled across the lyrics stuffed under his amp in the garage and freaked out. After jumping to conclusions and scheduling an appointment to have Chad checked out at a local Kaiser office in West Covina, it took about three hours for Chad, his mom, and band members to convince him that the song has nothing to do with his son being anything close to suicidal but that he is "merely a poet trying to make fun of something that is accepted when it shouldn't be"
The guys finished the chorus of The Internets My Only Friend after the ordeal with a more somber, serious outlook on parenting and suicide and came up with a song that completely contradicted itself but yet fit perfectly at the same time.
They debuted the song around a year ago and it became a fan favorite (ironically) and to this day, is still dedicated to Chad's father and all the other parents that either have no clue, dont understand, or just dont care at all.
Lyrics
I'm online
But no one's on
It's only me
Where have they gone?
All my friends
They all have lives
Theyre not like me
technologized
I'm online
No one replies
To my IMs
To all my cries
And no one heard
My pleades for help
My "Last Resort"
Was AOL
And no one heard me when i'm calling for my mom,
Before i said a word i was already wrong,
I'll leave a message yet i've been here far too long,
And when you call me back i'll already be gone
I'm online
For the last time
It's not to chat
To say goodbye
One life, one try
I know I failed
I sent the note
Via email...
