	Story Behind the Song This jazz standard originally was from the Broadway show My Fair Lady. The song is sung by a man from a rich family (Freddy) who has fallen in love with a flower girl. Though he does not know her true identity, others seem to find her to be crude. Freddy does not care. He doesn't even care that she doesn't want to see him. He simply waits outside her house content that he is on the street where she lives. Lyrics (Spoken) I have often walked, down this street before, but the pavement always stayed beneath my feet before.
