Story Behind the Song
In Creative Writing class I had to come up with a series of 10 pieces of works... up came Philip the Navajo. Though these aren't the original verses, i spruced up the 6 stanza poem to make it more interesting. Hope you like it :)
Lyrics
chorus:
Philip the Navajo
(Navajo)
Found by an alley cat in Paxton, Ohio
Philip the Navajo
(Navajo)
Fascinated with fire and became a pyro
Philip the Navajo
Amazed by an echo
Went to get a class of water
But on his way he stubbed his toe
Philip the Navajo
Listens to Dido
Usually alone at night
So plays on his banjo
Philip the Navajo
Wants to be a Pharoah
Packed up all his things
But then his cat parents said, “No!”
Philip the Navajo
Ran away from home
It began to rain and pour so he
Put on his poncho
Philip the Navajo
Got to Egypt pronto
But got jumped and robbed and mamed
And tied in a lasso
Philip the Navajo
Was captured by Gumbo
A cursin’, flickin’, finger lickin’
Egyptain homo
(chorus)
Philip the Navajo
Woke up to a hippo
Betsy’s, Gumbo’s favorite
Who likes to drink cocoa
Philip the Navajo
Got hold of some mayo
Put it around his arms and legs
And got free from his lasso
Philip the Navajo
Searched for his foe
Looked inside a nearby box
And found a gun and ammo
Philip the Navajo
Finally found this bronco
Playing in a nearby room
A short game of Keno
Philip the Navajo
Aimed his gin and Ammo
But then awoke to his cat mom
And his model of Pluto
“Wake up, Philly!
You were a having a bad dream!
Oh yes, and by the way,
I brought you ice cream!”
“Oh boy,” said Philip.
(chorus)
