Story Behind the Song
After moving from my home in Montana while at college I grew tired of
the same old everyday life, and began longing for my dreams for the future
and to see my mountains once again. It took about an hour to record- about half an hour to write.
Lyrics
Ever since I was a kid,
I dreamed I'd be a Mountain Man,
but people said that breed is dead,
just get the best job you can.
I wont forget when I first saw,
there sillouett against the sky or the first time that I heard, the rocky mountain lulla bye.
*Rocky Mountain Lullabye whisphered through the pines, hummed ore the brooks and streams sung by the eagles cry.
Floating on the mountain breeze that smells so sweet, the Rocky Mountain Lullabye is so dear to me.
When the time finally came to start making my own traks. I said goodbye and headed west, without ever looking back.
But but even there I felt confined working all day inside. The city noise drowned out, the rocky mountain lullabye.*
I moved again and got a job,
working as a guide.
I taught folks how to track and how to tie a fly.
I taught them how to ride a horse,
and how to read the sky,
then I taught them how to hear,
the Rocky Mountain Lullabye*
