Story Behind the Song
I actually wrote this as a Christmas present to my mother, who was the choir director at our church. The lyrics were adapted from the prose of 1 Corinthians 13 by myself.
Lyrics
If I speak in the tongues,
Of men and of angels,
But I do not have love,
I am noisy like a cymbol.
If I was a prophet,
And if I have all faith,
But I do not have love,
I am nothing.
I am nothing.
If I give up my things,
Hand over my body,
But I do not have love,
I gain nothing.
I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind.
Love is not arrogant or rude.
It does not rejoice in wrongdoing,
But it rejoices within the truth.
Prophecies will end,
Knowledge will end,
Tongues will end,
But love will never end.
If I do not have love,
I am noisy like a cymbol,
And I am nothing.
And now, faith, hope, and love abide.
But the greatest of these is love!
