	Since 1981, in a small village named Medjugorje in Bosnia-Herzegovina, it is claimed that Mary, the mother of Jesus has been appearing and giving messages to the world. She tells us that God has sent her to our world and, these years she is spending with us are a time of Grace granted by God. In her own words she tells us, "I have come to tell the world that God exists. He is the fullness of life, and to enjoy this fullness and peace, you must return to God".

	Story Behind the Song The song was inspired by the Medjugorje story and written for the1995 Martin Sheen movie, “Gospa” (“The Lady” in Croation) but was too late for the final mix. Children in war-torn former Yugoslavia claim to have spotted the Madonna. The authorities try to kill the story by arresting the main nun's brother jozo, a priest, and sentencing him to jail. The children, now are all grown, but are said to continue to receive the visions and messages and travel and lecture everywhere. Don began the recording in his usual fashion with his guitars, bass and drum machine and arranged the song for his overdubbed voices, strings, piano, horns, strings and organ in his basement studio, and then went to Joey Demaio’s Wild Sound Studio on the Jersey shore with Reggie Brooks, who on an electronic keyboard, played and overdubbed piano, horns, cellos, violas, violins and organ and Don put down 16 overdubbed voices. What you hear on the recording is the work of only two musicians, Don and Reggie. Lyrics Healing Words (When the Gospa came to Medjugorje) Verse 1 Another story has been told That will never grow old Of the miracles and times the Gospa came To old Yugoslavia near the Adriatic Sea To Medjugorje by a church they call Saint James. There were six young children And so the story goes, The Gospa would come to see them every day. Many people believed in her Though no one else could see her And the children told of things that she would say. CHORUS When the Gospa came to Medjugorje With her message of just how the world should be, To all her children everywhere She told them just how much she cared And wept ("left" 2nd time) her Healing Words of joy and love and peace. When the Gospa came to Medjugorje She appeared on that rugged country hill. So many millions have come to that oasis in the sun Where the Gospa asked for peace and good will. Verse 2 There was a man there named Jozo Who came to believe the children After so much doubting in his mind. One day he had to hide them From the angry unbelievers From those who would destroy the heavenly signs. Jozo was arrested And thrown into a cell And tortured for things he was never guilty of. Soon the word spread all around the world About Jozo and the children And the Gospa and her messages of love.
