	Story Behind the Song It must've been around 1995. I bought some sharkskin trousers in a store called Ruby's which was in Iowa City's Hall Mall- a den of vintage clothing stores, head shops and a goth/industrial store. I was walking with my girlfriend at the time and just starting singing. I envisioned the song being a straight forward garage number until years later, driving to a rave in Ocean Park I thought to myself. "Wouldn't 'New Pants' be a better song if were a soul number?" And so it became what you hear.
