"Blind Luck" happened when I sat down to write about a broken date. I soon realized that I'd written enough bitter relationship songs, so I decided to write about the complete opposite of how I felt. And out came "Blind Luck", detailing both an idealized set of scenarios and my envy at those who get it right. |

Story Behind the Song
"Blind Luck" happened when I sat down to write about a broken date I didn't have the previous night. I soon realized that I'd written enough bitter relationship tunes, so I decided to write about the complete opposite of how I felt. And out came "Blind Luck", detailing both an idealized set of scenarios and my envy at those who really do 'get it right", I couldn't overcome the urge to use the phrase 'lucky duck' in a song! It turned out to be possibly the nicest and most romantic love song I've ever written. Plain, simple, straight-forward, and totally fictional!
Lyrics
Out for a day, free in the world
Walking on a mountaintop
with my favorite girl
but she's okay, she made herself that way
Dressed to the nines A king and a queen
But still goin' for subtlety
She likes to be seen on the scene
A dinner table candle glowing dream
I'd like to say I'm in love
Well I'm in love and why should I
It took half your life to get it right
We all should be so lucky tonight
Ah...it's blind luck
It's blind luck...you lucky duck
When we get home we linger by the door
We start removing things, toss 'em on the floor
But that's alright
Our little private tango in the night
I'd like to say I'm in love
Well I'm in love and why should I
It took half your life to get it right
We all should be so lucky tonight
Ah...it's blind luck
It's blind luck...you lucky duck
