    A song with many musical elements... built on a slow blues progression - with choruses interjected between verses.
    CD: Wake Up Call   Label: Self Published
    Credits: Mark D. Wagner

    Story Behind the Song
    The Lyrics mirror the musical structure of the song. The blues progressions are paired to the stanzas of an English sonnet. The choruses are mated with a more modern pop lyric. It's an experiment, but many of the parts work well. I am particularly happy with the harder parts toward the end... however green they come off.

    Lyrics
    May the Stars Burn Out
    © MetaVerse 2000

    My stars, unseen and unemployed, will die;
    My sun, confused and jealously looks on
    The brighter twin ascending to the sky,
    The love that turns the darkest night to dawn.

    May the stars burn out
    May the stars burn out

    The shadows all are banished from the Earth,
    And need for shade or shelter's been revoked,
    And nevermore will glare be said to hurt;
    My love is all and more than I could hope.

    May the stars burn out
    May the stars burn out
    Like candles in daylight
    Like moonshine at noontime
    The stars burn out
    May the stars burn out

    She warms the deepest trenches of the sea
    And thinner air on mountain tops does not
    Diminish any of the life she feeds
    To fawn and flora, which without were lost.

    May the stars burn out
    May the stars burn out
    Like candles in daylight
    Like moonshine at noontime
    The stars burn out
    May the stars burn out
    Burn..
    Burn Out..
    May they..
    Burn out..

    And so unlike the other burning stars
    My love is near and safe to hold to heart
