Story Behind the Song
The motivation for this song was simply Jesus Christ. The lyrics are about the feelings of self-pride and putting "I" ahead of God. If things aren't going good for you then take a hard look at yourself. You may find that "I" is trying to live without Him.
Simular to "My Own Prison" by Creed in that respect.
This is a live recording from "The Hangout" in Hayward, California with Brad Barth at the controls.
Lyrics
I
1 Peter 5:6
(verse I)
I just want to get away
And I, feel like I’m walking dead
I can feel this rope bridge sway
and I can feel fear make its’ way to my heart
(pre-chorus)
Too many roles to play, I am coming undone
swimming in pride, losing stride, I am jumping the gun
what God has begun, I have come to start taking apart
feeling the dread, realizing, the wrongs I have done…
(chorus)
Nothing can happen when you’re an island to yourself
You’re only a prisoner, when you don’t face Truth
Life is just pained, when all you do is just go astray
That’s why you’ve got to let God lead…
(verse II)
I have to face another day
But I just want to run away, don’t want to feel anymore…
And I, I know I’ve got to face my fears
and I, know that God is there to wipe the tears away…
