Story Behind the Song
written for a girl I saw at the hospital last summer - I was working as the Child Life Assistant on paeds. She was in twice for depression and suicidal tendencies... in the course of three months.
Lyrics
Sad little girl, curled in upon herself.
Lost and alone; can't see happiness ahead.
Oh, Elisa, I can see who you are.
Oh, Elisa, I've been where you are.
Oh, Elisa, open your heart to possibility.
She thinks she's alone, and the tears drip like blood.
Scared and hopeless, lost in depression again.
Oh, Elisa, I can see who you are.
Oh, Elisa, I've been where you are.
Oh, Elisa, open your heart to possibility.
Feeling worthless in the depths of her soul,
Scared that someone will see the nothingness she hides.
Oh, Elisa, I can see who you are.
Oh, Elisa, I've been where you are.
Oh, Elisa, open your heart to possibility.
Lift up your head, see the face of love.
Feel His arms holding you.
You're free, you're free.
Sometimes memories can bring back the pain.
But freedom doesn't die, and love will never lie to you.
Oh, Elisa, I can see who you are.
Oh, Elisa, I've been where you are.
Oh, Elisa, open your heart to possibility.
