Story Behind the Song
Hopefully, the lyrics say it all. I only wish I had recorded it before my father passed away. But, I look forward to a time when I'll be reunited with all who've gone before me.
Lyrics
Reunited
VERSE 1
When I was a child, on each holiday
The fam'ly would gather together;
Determined to meet at grandma and grandpa's;
Determined to brave any weather.
VERSE 2
Uncles and aunts, cousins, and nephews
And nieces, and sisters and brothers
Gathered for feasting, for fun, and for sharing
Good news and the company of others.
CHORUS
Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving
Loved ones so dear all invited
To share in the joy of the moment
With whole family reunited... reunited.
VERSE 3
Time takes its toll on a fam'ly,
Some are no longer alive;
Some seeds have fallen too far from the tree,
Some are just too old to drive.
VERSE 4
The fam'ly has lost its complexion;
It isn't what it used to be;
There's no longer a home to go home to.
Still, the memories linger in me.
REFRAIN
And I dream that the family's together;
And I'm filled with joy and excited
As I look to the day that I'll join them
And the whole family's reunited... reunited.
