	Story Behind the Song the title is a two-fold reference: the first dealing with an individual who took my simple distaste for the artist madonna and pushed it toward total abbhorence, and secondly it is a throwback to a bell hooks quote in which she says (in regards to madonna) that "the bitch can't even sing." a "shiv" is a prison knife, usually made out of a sharpened toothbrush handle. the "5 stars" mentioned are not literal- they are used to invoke the symbol of 5 fingers (e.g. a fist). this metaphor is extended throughout the song. the act of an arm engaging someone's throat is very freudian and is simply a metaphor for silencing criticism and forcing conceit to one's own suffering. Lyrics i finally gained an insight into the human experience. i am now understanding the half-hearted effort people expel in the name of friendship. shiv, welcome to my breast. so, you got 5 stars: one for each year you been on the scene. but you'll trade them all in cause it's just about your popularity and fashion sense. welcome: it's the latest trend of the newest bend of your journey to the hadal depths of shallowness. choke me up and blow me away. i want you to die like i have. i want to feel my knuckles drag past your tongue and scrape the back of your neck. i want to hear you choke on my arm. i want you to bruise your knees: acknowledge our pain. and the fairweather friend- kill yourself. thank you for reminding me why i hate blondes. you smell exactly like every other girl. you are not unique.
