A short pop song about longing and love. From my upcoming CD, Getting Along Famously (due for release in 2003). |

Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song a few years ago, but was never inspired to record it until last year. I was listening to a lot of Sugar at the time I wrote it, and I think that is reflected in the style.
I won't overexplain this silly song. Sometime love seems hopeless, and this is sad. Yet, there is also something kind of humorous about hopelessness or saying something is hopeless. Hope is the thing with feathers or something isn't?
Lyrics
It's hopeless and over
She blew right by my lonely store
I'm out there, but want in
Wanted nothing more
I tried to fit inside her world,
But nearly died in deep distress
Today I'm looking at the door,
And staring back is me
All I see is utterly hopeless
Unbearably hopeless
She knows this and opens
A beautiful unfolding chair
I sat there and somewhere else
At times I kill myself
For missing this one chance to smile
I should have waited like a friend
Have I got stuff to do
Only long for you
And sing a song that's true:
It's truly hopeless
Hopelessly over
