The Devil and The Klute. |
Credits: The Klute, with Bill Campana, your Essenzaslam host |
Story Behind the Song
The Klute thought this one after listening to Robert Johnson for the first time, and after watching "Once More, With Feeling" (the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" musical episode) and "Forbidden Zone", a movie by Danny Elfman (he plays the Devil - as a the leader of a 1930s style band - think Mephistopholes meets Benny Goodman)).
With The Klute's knowledge of the arcane and the infernal, and his love of the spoken world, this poem was inevitable.
One of The Klute's "dark" pieces. He promises the next one will be funny.
Recorded live at the Essenza Coffeehouse in Mesa, AZ on June 26, 2002.
Bill Campana, the Colonel to the Non-Natives Elvis Presley, provides your hosting commentary. Bill doesn't have a website, but he should.
