	Story Behind the Song Dr Karl was sort of joke within a joke. While Terry and I wrote equal amounts of material, Terry tended to have the greater acting role while I tended to play straight man and worry about the production side. The Dr Karl segment was supposed to be my spotlight, a chance for my talent to shine. In reality, Terry sang the opening and closing themes as well as read the letter. My role was to basically go "you're forgiven". Oddly enough, people started calling me Dr Karl in real life. People who didn't listen to our show would ask me if I was really a doctor. I'd answer them "yes, I'm Dr Karl, DDK." "What's a DDK?" they'd ask. "I'm a Doctor of Divinity Kinetics. I'm a licensed faith healer." Dr Karl was opened by the Dr Karl Theme and closed by the Dr Karl Closing Theme. Terry sung both. I wrote the lyrics/music for the opening theme and Terry wrote the lyrics for the closing theme. Each was sung to a simple 3-chord, C-F-G blues progression.
