Story Behind the Song
This remix was quite a difficult one to write
because of the waltz time signature of the
original hymn. I didn't want to stretch the
tune into 4 to the floor, nor did I want an
oompahpah bass line. So I reached an unusual
compromise and used 3's against 4's. The bass
and some of the drums are in 4, the synths
in 3. Hence the unusual cross rhythms going
on! Once again we've redone the words, in
fact this was the first time I tried
rewriting lyrics like this. Once again
Fiona has helped me out with the singing,
adding the purity of her voice to verse 4.
