Story Behind the Song
The song is about the almost clinical predisposition I have to getting into situations that are a "double-edge sword." Hence, the chorus, "What a sweet, tricky situation." The lyrics are rough cut and probably unfinished. Upon my next revision I will muck with the lines a little.
Lyrics
I get by on the sweet, sweet smell of her.
I get by on the idea that she,
Just might need me.
I get no satisfaction from runnin' over the same circles.
I get no good reaction,
When I think of her.
I find when I'm alone,
Somebody's tellin' me,
The same sad song.
It's a sweet, tricky situation.
I've got myself in now.
I find my self alone.
It's a quarter past three and I'm,
Next to the phone.
I never knew the reason for it all,
-She's running down the same ol' hall.-
But I find when I'm tired,
Somebody's tellin' me,
The same sad song.
Cause it's a sweet, tricky situation.
I've got myself in now.
I get by on the sweet, sweet smell of Jack.
I get by on the idea that one day,
She'll be back.
I find when she's cryin'
Somebody's tellin' her,
The same sad line.
It's a sweet tricky situation.
We've got ourselves now.
