Story Behind the Song
i wrote this song in two nights - most of the music and the first verse came to me when i couldn't sleep... i was thinking about a girl i had just gotten to know, and was charmed by how unattainable she seemed. the second night of writing all the rest of the lyrics came, and the song was born. it's tuned down an entire step and performed entirely on an acoustic guitar. simple, catchy, and affectionate.
Lyrics
i tried to sleep last night - stayed up by candlelight. instead i thought about the both of us. have you ever been arranged with anyone as strange as me? would you like to be? would you care to see? it's alright with me.
we looked at photographs and painted roadmaps of you - the things you like to do. i'm still not good at this when everything reminds me of a kiss. it will not be like this. oh, for a kiss. don't believe in this.
well, would you remain for this rain/
would it change if i weren't lame?
i think i love your eyes like a gaelic sunrise at the sea, waking next to me. it's really quiet now, another miss somehow and here - what i used to fear got taken in a year. only one more year....
